Aehm... I dunnoo!
I've just done AS level German (AS levels are exams you do at 17, for all you foreigners, and IIRC they're a little bit below the Abitur that German students take) And I kind of managed to do it without going to the lessons... I don't understand it, myself - I've got no German relatives, and I've been to Germany three times in my life.
As for the accent... I'd put it down to connection quality  I try to listen to german people speaking when they're around so I don't speak Hochdeutsch. When I went on exchange this year, all the Germans thought it was really funny that I said "net" instead of "nicht"

not that weenie bunch of danish bitches who had german in school but don't like to hear it at all
a english fish that is willing to hear german and to improve his skills....sounds like some probable dirty TS-sessions to me.....
