before you start wasting money, check what your motherboard and powersupply can handle. furthermore you need enough room in your tower and a free molex power connector, if you wanna buy that 1950 thing...

some more system info would be nice Wink

hey rafty!

i won't buy the 1950pro. a friend of mine got it, and he has got mad problems with it, wich seems to be quite common. i'll probably get a 7900gs now (hopefully i can get the slightly overclocked one from gainward)

my specs:

Elitegroup K7S5A
amd athlon 2400+ (2Ghz)
2 x 512 Mb RAM
400 Watt Power Supply (cheap one, but should be ok)

atm i use a geforce 5600 fx ultra

whatever newer vga you buy, the rest of your system will be the bottleneck. if a newer vga works on that mobo (what is not guaranteed), you'll not note that big performance boost in games.

are you using the ddr or the sdram slots on that mobo?

well, i hope a 7900 will give me some more performance compared to my 5600!? Shocked Smile yeah, i know its all old and everybody would tell me to get a new system. but i don't wanna do this yet, cause i got my priorities (moneywise) on other things... as long as i can check out cod4, crysis and some other stuff at lowest to medium settings fluidly i'll be happy.

got ddr on it.

edit: and why isn't every card guaranteed to work on my mobo? i mean, if it says agp on it, it should work, shouldn't it? btw, thx for your support! (to everybody else as well!)

yeah, it will work but you might not see as big improvment as you think... but yet again newer games tax the gfx card more, compared to older ones so jada jada jada... Laughing
