Ok, i had following prob last night:
installed the game.
created an offline account with bull.
wait for the key...
...
...
...
..
wait...
...
...
...
..
HA! received the key.
opened the game.
created a new online account.
ERROR
user exsist.
..
..
create a new othe ronline account ERROR: key not valid).
..
..
deleted the bull offline account.
tried it again with bull online.
..
..
ERROR
key is not valid.
..
..
went to bed.
What did I wrong!?

Ingame name must not be your fileplanet loginname, right?
Perhaps i did something wrong yesterday evening.
I will try again later, when iam home from work...so roundabout 21.00.....fucking day.

as far as i know, the key is independent from your fileplanet account. your account to play online will be created somewhere at ID, splashdamage or where ever. so you can choose the name you want. but note that you can not change your in-game name!
the readme says:

Upon launching the game after installation you will be prompted to create an account. Creating an online account requires a username and license code which was given to you when you downloaded the ET:QW Public Beta through FilePlanet. |
don't forget it's a beta version. this means eg. the grafics are limited, you will find bugs and you can not use all funktions.
quick performance/fps tweaks:
 defrag your harddisk
install the latest chip, sound and grafik drivers
change the following in "\My Documents\\Enemy Territory Quake Wars Public Beta\base\etqwconfig.cfg":

Ok,
Iam playsing ET:QW for 2 days now...and I have to say.....I like tc:e more.
The handling of the weapons is nearly the same like in normal ET.
So I think for a few rounds it is fun...but for the moment i like it so lala.
But everybody should test it by itself.
